The advent of special effects, as well as computerised modelling, has upped the ante in helping make the impossible possible for many aspects of film production, including props, costume design and stage sets.
The team here at Ogle have worked closely with art directors, film-makers, costume designers, model makers, set designers and producers to create authentic props and stage sets for numerous productions over the course of 65 years. And, as with all aspects of our work, we understand the importance of confidentiality throughout the design process, ensuring no twists, turns or spoilers are released.
We have a wide range of processes and materials at our disposal for filmmakers and production teams to choose from. The most common process used in the film, TV and entertainment industry is SLA. This allows us to produce incredibly accurate parts and models that are ready for the finishing process.
For when strength is essential to your model or part, this is where SLS is the star of the show. This provides us with the ability to paint and finish a part or model, no matter how intricate the required finish.
We’re also able to complement our SLA technology with vacuum casting, where we can create a mould before casting multiple parts to provide added strength for one or a number of copies.
– Accuracy: Realistic parts, featuring the very best in finishing and detailing
– Speed: Fast turnaround to produce prototypes, models or masters
– Cost: 3D printing can be more cost-effective than creating moulds and casting parts
– Control: Build props from CGI and CAD data
– Interactive: The ability to have your parts interact with post-CGI production
– Lightweight: Lighter parts that are both easier to transport and operate
– Projection: Allows you to create small models to exhibit to potential shareholders
– Confidence: Accurate prototypes allow you to comprehensively test before production
Having started our journey in the film and movie industry in a galaxy far, far away, working on original props and models for the first ever Star Wars movie, we’ve established ourselves as a leading name in the set design, model making and prop sector. Here at Ogle, we are able to use the most cutting-edge tools and machines on the market, giving our clients an unrivalled amount of scope to create even the most ambitious prop, prototype, set design or costume.
For over 65 years, Ogle has remained at the forefront of the model making and prototyping world. We’ve achieved this by making both personnel and technology advancements to ensure the needs of each client, regardless of industry, can be met with precision.
While we’re proud to be able to offer such a comprehensive array of innovative machines, we’re equally proud of the skilled team of model makers we have. From prop to costume design, industrial modelmaking are still as important to us as they were more than 65 years ago.
If you’re not sure what process or materials are best suited to your project, we have the experience and know-how to make sure you get it right.
““We were extremely impressed with how quickly they managed to turn the project around. They have absolutely surpassed themselves! The biggest compliment I can give is that it looks like the real thing””
