Architectural, planning and competition models

From a very basic block model through to fully detailed master planning and exciting competition models. Ogle has some of the latest high tech methods and having worked with many architects can recommend the best method for producing some of today's complex geometries.

Scale models

Deciding on the scale of your model is crucial at an early stage. The decision is affected by two things- how big is the area you need to model and what level of detail do you want to show. A building is so huge in reality that  it needs to be scaled down by a factor of hundreds just to fit into the Rapid Prototyping machine. To simply scale down a CAD model of a whole building is to reduce most of the component parts to dimensions which are simply too fine for these processes. 0.7 mm is the absolute minimum and even that is really only successful in small areas. Even in a model made by traditional materials the plastic we use for the glass is 0.5mm  which scales up to 25Omm thick at 1-500. In short, if you are an architect building a model for rapid prototyping, you have to start to think as a model maker would and build your  ‘virtual’ models in the same way as you would a small physical model . Use simple slabs and cylinders. The best course of action if you are unsure is to call us and we will advise you.

Lighting and electrics

We can add some stunning visual effects with internal lighting and external LEDs for street and vehicle lighting.

Plinths and baseboards

To provide the perfect setting or site plan you may require road and location detail. Or a plinth to lift the whole model to a decent viewing height. Either way we can use our cnc or panel saw machines to get the size you require. With in-house paint finishes available you will have the complete site plan.

Presentation cases

If you are taking to a potential client or simply to protect your investment we can provide clear and polished perspex cases- please call us for details.

Packing crates

You are looking to deliver your model by courier either in the UK or world wide we can provide export grade cases. They would be made specifically for your project.

Exhibition and museum models

You may just require a solid shape or a replicas of a statue, by scanning we can obtain the cad data we need to produce a life like replica. Models can have fully working electrics and lighting.
